SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES
The rapid prototyping service offered by Gruppo Meccaniche Luciani is one of the most innovative on the market. 3D technology significantly reduces prototyping and product development times with exciting results in terms of quality and functionality. Thanks to the 3D printer it is possible to combine rigid, soft and different coloured elements in a single printing process. This allows the creation of wearable prototypes, perfectly matching the finished product and testable by all the departments involved, from designers to the marketing area.
AND CAD-CAM DESIGN
Giving substance to customers’ ideas, through the study and development of the project in 3D modelling, means paying particular attention to the design and guaranteeing adequate industrialisation. Gruppo Meccaniche Luciani develops tool paths with mathematics created by its internal structure or supplied directly by the customer for the creation of moulds and prototypes. CAM design for numerical control allows transforming what has been processed on the computer into something tangible by choosing the tools, the machining speed, the number of revolutions of the tool itself and all the other parameters, according to the material to be worked. Every detail determines the quality of the final result, a unique product, a solid foundation for the customer.
Once the design has been defined down to the smallest detail and the three-dimensional mathematics of the mould have been determined, the project passes to the workshop where it is physically built using modern 5 and 6-axis CNC machining centres which allow for an infinite number of workable shapes. The work centres of Gruppo Meccaniche Luciani are used to stimulate the imagination of designers and to redefine production capacities at the highest levels; these are also equipped with robotic systems that are used to contain a large number of moulds for continuous 24/7 processing, increasing their productivity with a significant cost reduction.
This is the final phase that closes the production process, where the product is functionally tested through moulding tests and subjected to quality control. The execution of moulding tests also allows our customers to verify the efficiency and functionality of their mould as well as being able to perform a complete inspection of the finished product before mass production. The moulding of plastic materials is performed with specific testing machines for each material. Gruppo Meccaniche Luciani’s technological equipment allows for the testing of moulds for various plastic materials, such as EVA, TPU, TPR, PVC, PU, mono/bi-density PU with direct injection on the upper and single/two-colour injection rubber, including two-colour “island” rubber products.
Our molding production capacity can ensure punctual and reliable deliveries. The department dedicated to EVA is made up of two machines with six stations and one with two stations for a total of twenty-eight molds which can guarantee excellent weekly productivity. A single station of single-color Eva is entirely dedicated to samples and mold testing to guarantee an on-time service on samples and to never interrupt production on the other machines. In addition to these systems, we have another machine with two two-color stations dedicated to the molding of samples and the setting up of the molds and an innovative system for two-color EVA with 6 stations.
